Chops Lobster Bar is a lively surf ‘n’ turf spot that’s been serving fresh seafood since 2007. Start with the Maryland-style all jumbo lump crab cake with lemon grain mustard emulsion or the Mediterranean octopus, chargrilled and served with extra virgin olive oil, pickled red onions, Greek olives, and Santorini capers. Or check out the jumbo Panama shrimp cocktail served with two unique sauces or the daily oysters comprising three oysters from each coast.

Chops offers 2-pound Maine lobsters served steamed and cracked or a 1-pound icy water Nova Scotia lobster tail. Seafood specialties include the black grouper, which is horseradish-crusted with sauteed kale in a pink grapefruit emulsion, and the fresh genuine Holland Dover sole, filleted at your table and sauteed with lemon, capers, and extra virgin olive oil. Chops also offers a Hong Kong combo featuring Scottish salmon and Chilean sea bass served with a sesame soy broth, spinach, jasmine rice, and ginger. One last favorite worth mentioning is the steamed Alaskan red king crab “Merus” cut complete with drawn butter.

Chops Lobster Bar is located at 101 Plaza Real South and open Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. and until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

City Fish Market

If you’re looking for a place where you can get today’s fresh catch, head to City Fish Market. For an appetizer, try the oyster sampler featuring traditional cocktail sauce, horseradish, and pink peppercorn mignonette or the half and half cocktail with colossal lump crab and jumbo shrimp. You can even get a half-pound signature cold water lobster tail as an appetizer, served lightly flash-fried with drawn butter and a honey mustard aioli. Another favorite is the yellowfin tuna tartare with wasabi creme fraiche.

Moving on to the dinner selections, City Fish Market has lobster, king crab legs, and shrimp along with its fresh catch options. Fresh catches include Atlantic swordfish, halibut, yellowtail snapper, flounder, sea scallops, New England cod, Chilean sea bass, Atlantic black grouper, and Atlantic mahi-mahi. Start by selecting your fish, then pick whether you want it sauteed, blackened, or broiled with your choice of two sides. Alternatively, you can request Hong-Kong-style served with scallions, ginger, wok spinach, and sherry soy in a bowl of jasmine rice.

City Fish Market offers several specialties, including the salmon parmesan crusted served with crispy basil potato cake and steamed broccoli or the boneless rainbow trout sauteed with toasted almonds and brown butter and served with thin green beans and baked sweet potato. City Fish Market is open daily from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at 7940 Glades Road.

JB’s on the Beach

For a unique dining experience with a beautiful view, stop by JB’s on the Beach at 300 NE 21st Avenue in nearby Deerfield Beach. Enjoy a cup of Bahamian seafood chowder or coconut shrimp to get your taste buds ready for the main course. Or try the crispy calamari, dynamite scallops, ceviche, or lobster flatbread as your starter. Order a few to share with friends and family so you can sample several appetizers.

JB’s has a volcano crab cake featuring oven-roasted crab topped with signature dynamite crust and served with crispy wontons, wakame salad and sriracha aioli, spicy avocado salad, island rice, and sweety drop peppers. For a unique taste, try the seafood paella with shrimp, mussels, calamari, clams, scallops, and chorizo simmered with peppers, onions, tomatoes, and garlic, then served over saffron-infused orzo and rice. Loch offers five menus — brunch, lunch, happy hour, dinner, and sunset — each with unique offerings. Start with a shellfish tower complete with oysters, clams, mussels, lobster cocktail, shrimp cocktail, and more.

Loch offers live Maine lobster served with drawn butter or a Maine lobster roll for the lighter appetite. Try the miso glazed salmon made with sunchoke puree and served with broccolini, crispy enoki mushroom, and parsley oil. Another favorite is the Alaskan king crab served with lemon and butter in either 10- or 20-ounce sizes. As an extra special treat, top your meal off with a piece of the Key lime creme brulee.
